In full recovery after having ruptured his cruciate ligaments, Rodri gave his news during an interview with El Partizado this Monday.
He first returned to his coronation during the Ballon d’Or ceremony. “I was a little disconcerted when half the audience shouted ‘Vinicius, Vinicius!’ when the trophy was presented. Regardless, the audience showed me a lot of respect, because after the ceremony, they all stood up and applauded me,” he confides.
He also returned to the absence of Real Madrid players and managers: “It didn’t bother me that they weren’t there. It was my moment, with my family, and the last thing I I thought, it’s the people who didn’t come to the gala.”

“Iniesta’s congratulations made me the most happy”
After winning the precious sesame in front of a trio of Real Madrid players, Rodri saw his phone heat up following the numerous messages received. “A lot of people congratulated me, but the one who made me happy the most was Iniesta, who should also have a Ballon d’Or in his trophy cabinet because he was the best footballer in the history of our country,” he comments. Before continuing: “Have I received congratulations from Real Madrid? There were some from former players of this club, like Nacho and Joselu, with whom I shared the dressing room. Vinicius did not not congratulated but it didn’t bother me I care about my loved ones, my family and my club I wouldn’t have done what Real Madrid did, not to come to the gala, but it didn’t. it’s no longer worth it think”.
Rodri leaves a bigger void than De Bruyne: why are Manchester City in crisis? “We’re in a dark place right now.”
Objective 2025
Kevin De Bruyne’s teammate also gave news of his state of health. He hopes to return to Pep Guardiola’s squad before this summer. “I plan to play again this season. That’s my challenge. Now the seasons are getting longer and longer. I’ve already started walking and I’m in better shape than I thought.”
The Spanish midfielder kicked into touch when discussing his contract extension with City: “It’s not my priority at the moment. I want to recover and we’ll see… I like to live in the present, I have a contract with City and I’m very, very happy there but I’m not closing any doors.”
