Cercle de Bruges saw Christiaan Ravych leave due to injury in the first half of the match against Anderlecht. But Maxime Delanghe, the Groen & Zwart goalkeeper, had to “fake” things a little…
The referee is not the only one who had to be replaced at Jan Breydel at the start of the afternoon. Cercle Brugge central defender Christiaan Ravych was also replaced due to an injury in the first half. Edgaras Utkus took his place.
But the replacement took a little too long for the people of Bruges. As Uktus prepared, the game continued with an injured Ravych. It was then that Groen & Zwart goalkeeper Maxime Delanghe played the role.
The Bruges goalkeeper feigned an injury and collapsed. The rules are clear: if the goalkeeper is injured, the match must be stopped, and Mr Clerkx, who is therefore directing his first match in JPL, intervened. This allowed Edgaras Utkus to step into the game.
Of course, Delanghe quickly felt much better, and the meeting resumed its course very quickly. A fix which is not a first, and for which Cercle de Bruges has not been sanctioned.
