According to a source close to the matter who spoke to the site Al3omkthis absence is linked to the difficulties encountered by the player at the club. Indeed, Ziyech was sidelined for several weeks following an injury and experienced problems with Galatasaray which almost pushed him out during the last transfer window.

The Moroccan coach, Walid Regragui, wanted to clarify the situation by speaking directly with Ziyech to assure him that he was still counting on him. However, he asked him to resolve his problems with his club and find his best level to be able to rejoin the national team. The objective is clear: for Ziyech to be operational for the African Cup of Nations which will take place in Morocco in 2025.
For now, Ziyech is struggling to win at Galatasaray. He only played 256 minutes spread over five matches in all competitions. His contract with the Turkish club runs until June 2025, with a one-year extension clause if he participates in 70% of the first eleven matches.
His return to the field took place on Thursday during the Europa League match against Tottenham. Ziyech came on in the 73rd minute, playing his first minutes in several weeks.
