The Blues will enter Euro 2024 on June 17, 2024. In the meantime, Olivier Giroud spoke about the future match of the France team against Austria, in Düsseldorf, this June 13, 2024. And the strong man by Didier Deschamps did not only talk about sport. In a very tense political context in France, Jennifer Giroud’s husband launched an important appeal.

Interruption of the Blues press conference

He assured from the start of his speech at a press conference: “ I’ll be brief: no impact on our preparation. If I have one piece of advice to give to the French, it is to go and vote. The abstention rate is not normal ». Indeed, on Sunday June 9, 2024, the European elections which placed the National Rally in the lead, also showed a huge abstention rate: at 48.5%.

Subsequently, the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron called early legislative elections. He in fact took the decision to dissolve the National Assembly, raising fears of a match of the extremes: the RN allied with LR on the right, and LFI allied with the PS on the left. Olivier Giroud also defended himself from any partisan remarks. He assured at the end of this interruption: “ I’m not going to give any details about my political leanings.“.

Olivier Giroud doesn’t want to spoil his last party

A highly charged climate until June 30 and July 7, 2024 which should not spoil what will be the attacker’s last competition. Olivier GIroud actually revealed during his exchange with journalists: “ I was very touched by the welcome from the supporters when they knew it was my last match in France. I am filled with excitement, nostalgia, desire. The objective is the collective, to have the best possible competition“.

And to add: “I did not make a press release. I just said that it would probably be my last competition given my choice to sign in the United States. You have to be clear-headed about the situation. I’m going to be 38 years old, I’m going to the United States. It doesn’t change my way of being. For me it is logical that this competition will be my last with the French team. This is the logical next step. I try to stay focused on what I have to do. »
