The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offered $10,000 to a family whose member was killed in a car accident on the way to Monday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the accident, Connor Barba, an 18-year-old man, attempted to avoid a vehicle that crossed into his lane, but died following the impact. According to what Connor’s uncle, Collin Barnett, learned about the accident, his maneuver still lessened the intensity of the impact for his mother, Megan Barnett, who was with him on board the car. The latter was still seriously injured in the accident.
Connor Barba received the tickets to this game as a birthday present from his mother, who was a big Baker Mayfield fan. A Buccaneers spokesperson reported the quarterback’s comments in a press release and he intends to contact the family.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Megan and her family as they deal with this heartbreaking news,” Mayfield shared in the statement. I am honored to know that Connor was such a big supporter. I would have loved to meet him. As a new parent, this news hits me. I realize that there are no words that can offer real comfort in a time like this. I hope Megan makes a full recovery and regains her strength with the support she has received across the country. »
Police said the driver of the other vehicle that ended up in the path of the vehicle driven by Connor, Joseph Savage, also died. Megan Barnett is currently in a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
