The captain of the team, Kylian Mbappé, will not be selected again for the Nations League matches against Israel on November 14 and Italy on November 17, as coach Didier Deschamps announced this Thursday.

“It’s my decision because I think it’s better this way. I understand that this may not be enough”Deschamps told the media.

“I don’t want to get into controversies that could give rise to interpretations, I can’t tell you more. I take responsibility for this decision”he added.

The striker, who is currently going through a difficult period with the French team, had already missed the French selection in October due to a left thigh injury.

His absence from the French team sparked significant controversy in the country, especially since he had started at Real Madrid just two days before the start of the international camp.

The player continued to make headlines following his trip to Stockholm, where Swedish media reported that an investigation had been launched into an alleged assault. The country’s police and judicial authorities have not confirmed whether the player is under investigation.

“Extra-field problems have not been taken into account since the presumption of innocence exists and must exist”said Deschamps.

The coach added that Mbappé “wanted to come” to the group to play against Israel at the Stade de France and against Italy in Milan. “I had several discussions with him, I thought about it and I made this decision; I think it’s better this way,” he concluded.

Mbappé’s problems are compounded by his form, highlighted by his lack of effectiveness during Real Madrid’s poor run, following 3-1 Champions League defeats to Milan and 4-0 La Liga defeats to Barcelona, all two at the Santiago Bernabéu.
