Two US Dax players allegedly behaved inappropriately last weekend. Two separate investigations, including one for “sexual assault”, are underway to shed light on facts which allegedly occurred on Saturday evening in bars in the city.
Two US Dax players are in turmoil. As indicated a little earlier by our colleagues from South West, the Landes club finds itself, despite itself, in the spotlight. The day after the USD’s victory against Nice, Jope Naseara and Ratu Nacika, probably drunk, went to several bars in the city, where they behaved “inappropriate”. The public prosecutor of Dax, Benoît Fontaine, confirmed to us, in the middle of the afternoon, that two separate investigations had been opened, after events which therefore took place during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
The players are in custody
A first investigation, for facts of “violence committed under the influence of alcohol” is in progress. It concerns a player. The second relates to facts “sexual assault”. It concerns another player. Heard this morning at the Dax police station, the two players were placed in police custody. At the time of writing, Naseara and Nacika were still in the police station.
The information quickly reached the ears of the leaders of the Landes club who, on Sunday, presented their apologies to the various bar owners. They also summoned the two players at the start of the week. Contacted, the president of the Landes club, Benjamin Gufflet, told us this Thursday afternoon: “US Dax is informed of criminal proceedings involving two of its players. The facts still remain under the discretion of the investigation. However, the club, which condemns all inappropriate behavior, reacted as soon as it was informed in order to help the rapid manifestation of the truth for the respect and support of the victims. The club has already initiated a disciplinary procedure, the outcome of which will depend in particular on the seriousness of the facts established and the capacity for change of its employees. We are working with sports management to create a risk prevention program for players. These facts reinforce the urgency of this approach for the future of the club.”
