After their defeat against PSG, OM returned to victory by winning 1-2 in Nantes. Here is Quentin Merlin's note and appreciation during this last meeting of the 10th day of Ligue 1.
This Sunday at La Beaujoire, OM obtained a 2-1 victory against FC Nantes, but the match was more complicated than expected. Neal Maupay – The Best Of Neal Maupay opened the scoring in the 24th minute, taking advantage of a cross from Jonathan Rowe. Despite 74% possession, the Marseillais struggled to control the rest of the match, especially after a difficult defeat against PSG the previous week.
FC Nantes, looking for a first victory in six games, responded with determination. Tino Kadewere equalized in the 61st minute with a well-placed rebound, giving hope to the home fans. However, OM regained the advantage thanks to another achievement from Greenwood in the second half. Despite a few chances, including a shot from Adrien Rabiot which hit the upright in the 83rd, the score remained in favor of Marseille.

His appreciation
Quentin Merlin, back after two months of absence, returned to competition with OM against his former club, Nantes. Although he was quite active offensively, he suffered from a certain defensive deconcentration, particularly during the action of the Canaries' equalizing goal. Despite these weaknesses, its performance remains promising for the future. Because if he was less present in the last pass, he is interesting in his changes of zones and his participation in the construction of the game. He will be even more active at 100%…
Media notes
Team Rating | 4/10 | Back after his thigh injury in September, the left back was not 100% and this showed when he had to defend. Drawn into the action of the opening score (39th), he also missed an easy back pass (43rd). His corner was deflected onto the bar by Mohamed (29th). Replaced by MURILLO (59th), used on the left then on the right. |
Maxifoot rating | 5/10 | Back after two months of absence and also against his former club, the Marseille left side alternated between the good and the less. He was rather prominent offensively but lacked rigor defensively, as in the action of the equalizing goal for Nantes. |
Note from FootMercato | 5/10 | Back in the Marseille eleven against his former club, the left side of OM generally worked well in his lane. If he was beaten behind his back in the Nantes equalizer, he otherwise blocked the Nantes climbs well, while contributing on the offensive level. Too tight physically, he finally left the Nantes pitch after the hour mark. |
