This is the striker everyone is talking about: Viktor Gyökeres. His performances, his efficiency in front of goal, his age, his potential and his price make the Swedish player from Sporting Portugal one of the potential stars of the next transfer market. This Tuesday precisely (at 9:00 p.m.), all eyes will be on him again in a high-intensity match: against Haaland’s Manchester City, with whom he is already compared.
Gyökeres (25) has scored 66 goals and provided 19 assists in 65 matches for Sporting. On Friday, he scored four times.
All this has not escaped the notice of FC Barcelona’s recruiters – nor those of major European clubs, particularly in the Premier League – and the Portuguese daily A Bola has already reported that Deco would have taken initiatives to find a way to recruit the number 9 Swedish. Sporting Club, as you would expect, have no plans to sell their star for an affordable price, especially since he is under contract until June 30, 2028.
More affordable in summer
Currently, the break clause is set at 100 million. However, Sporting made him a promise: if he does not leave this winter, he will be able to leave the club in the summer for a sum of 60 to 70 million. This is already more affordable for Barça which, in addition, has other assets: it still has 50% of the rights to the transfer of Francisco Trincão and could sell a Brazilian striker, Vitor Roque, currently on loan to Betis, with whom he has scored two goals in nine matches since the start of the season.
Barça, however, is not alone in the race: several English clubs, who had snubbed him while he was still playing in the Championship, are now turning their eyes to Gyökeres.
