At the federation, the Euro highlighted several concerns and changes were undertaken. Thus, the CEO has changed and Peter Willems now occupies the position.

A position for which Vincent Mannaert was approached, who was not unanimous within the board of directors and who had not found an agreement to occupy the position. On the other hand, he will indeed join the federation in the coming weeks.

An agreement reached

According to Sudinfothe former strong man of Bruges will replace Franky Vercauteren as national technical director. An agreement exists between the different parties according to the media, which states that the man will receive 400,000 euros per year for his new job.

A job that two other important figures in Belgian football would have refused. Two names which have already been mentioned to occupy other positions including that of coach, even if this has never happened.

Two big names refused

Still according to the same source, Michel Preud’homme and Hein Vanhaezebrouck were contacted but both refused the offer made to them. Both free, they will therefore not join the federation.

As for Michel Preud’homme, even if he has not definitively closed the football page, he does not seem to have any particular desire to accept a position, even in the shadows, for the moment.

In July 2021 he left Standard and when Roberto Martinez left his post as coach following the World Cup in Qatar, he was cited. He had also already been cited to occupy the position of technical director, which Martinez occupied in addition to his role as coach.
