The Lions host the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers this Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at the Vaudoise arena. The pre-match is presented to you by our main partner, Vaudoise assurances.

Defeat the Indian sign against Rapperswil-Jona

For many seasons, the LHC lost its teeth against the St. Gallen team. A true nemesis of the Lions, the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers experienced a series of 8 consecutive victories from 2021 to 2023 against the LHC. In recent matches, our players seem more comfortable facing this opponent. After winning at the end of September away to the St. Galler Kantonalbank Arena, Geoff Ward’s men will try to achieve a second success in a row against the players from Rapperswil-Jona. A first since the 2020-21 season.

This meeting in front of the Lausanne public will be the last before the international break which will take place next week. The opportunity to breathe new life into organizations that have been put to the test since the start of the season. Except for the four Lions who will participate in the Karjala Cup which will take place from November 7 to 10 in Helsinki (Finland). Among the players concerned, we find Ahti Oksanen with Finland, but also Fabian Heldner, Damien Riat and Théo Rochette who were summoned by Patrick Fischer’s Swiss team.

Players to follow

After yesterday’s heavy defeat at the PostFinance Arena at SC Bern, it’s time to remobilize to end the week well before the international break. To do this, our Lions will have to focus on their main strengths, namely a solid defense and an effective attack. Caught off guard yesterday, the Lausanne defense is certainly diminished, but it remains one of the main assets of the Lausanne Hockey Club like its Czech defender, David Sklenicka who remains one of the players with the most blocked shots in the National League (41).

Facing our Lions, the attackers Painted Strömwall (15 points in 17 matches played), Tyler Moy (14 points in 18 matches played) and Nicklas Jensen (13 points in 18 games played) will constitute the main threats for our Lions. Former LHC player, the Latvian goalkeeper with a Swiss license Ivars Punnenov made a very good start to the season with a save rate of 92.61%.
