“At least three teams are watching Jake Evans closely”

Since the start of the season, Jake Evans has been on fire. I don’t know what he put in his Froot Loops, but…

Shorthanded, he is reliable. When we need a guy to stop a play or restart the attack, he’s there. Looks like he’s still in a good place on the ice.

The trio he forms with Josh Anderson and Brendan Gallagher is very stable for CH at the moment. Plus, Evans is becoming more and more confident in his shot, which is a good thing.

Evans is currently doing a job that Owen Beck or any other prospect on the club cannot do without several years of experience in the Bettman circuit. It is very useful.

From a personal point of view, Evans also chose the right time to break out, as he will be a free agent in just a few months. He puts himself in a position to sign an interesting contract.

The question is of course whether the contract will be signed in Montreal or elsewhere.

Evans wants to stay in town, but I wonder to what extent the CH had planned such a progression for Evans. Will the long-term budget allow Evans to be paid what he is currently worth? Good question.

If the Canadian continues to lose and Evans continues to play like this, perhaps the CH will judge that its best value will be elsewhere. I really don’t believe that the club is there, but we can still raise the theory.

And if the CH ever decides to move, Marco D’Amico, from the site Responsible Gamblermaintains that several teams (at least three) are keeping an eye on the Montreal Canadiens center player.

D’Amico, who has his way into the NHL, has heard that the Canadiens are really in no rush to trade Evans. It’s normal.

Evans, who has five points since the start of the campaign, earns $1.7 million per year for a few more months. For an aspiring club, it’s a very easy contract to absorb.

But at a certain point, you have to wonder if trading Jake Evans wouldn’t allow the Canadian to get the reinforcement he needs elsewhere. That would be a way to be creative.

Because to simply trade the Ontarian for a pick, I really don’t think it would be productive for a club that wants to get out of the depths. It wouldn’t be productive in my eyes, at the very least.
