These days, from 9 a.m., volunteers from Copines and friends of the woods have started a project with the clearing of the Chemin des Gariottes in Montcabrier. The grass having grown enormously, they must continue to maintain the 11 km that they have already opened.

Then, at 11 a.m., the six of them found themselves on the path of the gariottes to go and free a hidden cazelle buried in the woods about forty meters away. They attacked the brush at the entrance to the woods, each in their role, Michel with the chainsaw, Kikine with the brush cutter, Jean-Claude and Pascal also to widen the path in the woods, Lydie and Anne clearing the cut wood. A good roughing up was carried out to find the cazelle that Michel knew since the wood belongs to him.

A sheltered stopping point for hikers

After this first pass with the cazelle in sight, they took the access path again to widen it, then cleaned and cleared around the cazelle. This will give hikers the opportunity to have a sheltered stopping point or for a rest period.

Nothing stops this supportive, friendly “Copines Copains des bois” team, to give pleasure to all hikers and promote their commune of Montcabrier. For access to the Gariotte circuit which takes the Chemin de Cahors, a sign will indicate access to La Cazelle.
