While the captain of the Blues, expected to join Real Madrid, officially announced his departure from the capital two weeks ago, the separation between the N.7 and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the Qatari boss of the capital club, did not end. not done smoothly. This end is spoiled by stories of big money which will have marked the whole of its last season, since last summer.

Although the two men were seen hugging on Saturday evening during victory in the Coupe de France final and on Tuesday evening during an awards ceremony in Sardinia, the negotiations appear bitter and tense.

PSG did not pay the salary for the month of April to the 25-year-old French star who is leaving free this summer, according to two sources close to the matter, confirming information from the newspaper l’Equipe. Contacted by AFP, the player’s entourage and PSG did not respond immediately.

This non-payment of the salary for the month of April is linked to the agreement which was reached last summer between Kylian Mbappé and the club, at the end of which the player undertook to waive part of his bonuses, a Source close to the matter explained to AFP

The discussions are “serene” and “a positive outcome” will be found, “everything is about to be resolved,” insisted this Source. But according to another Source close to the negotiations interviewed by AFP, the version is different: this decision was made at the initiative of the club but without having warned the star.

No “sealed” agreement

Furthermore, no agreement has been sealed between the two parties, said the Source, who added that in addition to the withholding of salary, there is the non-payment of a bonus – the exact nature of which is not known to the AFP. cause – for a total of around 80 million euros. These tensions reappear even though at the start of the year the two parties had indicated that they had reached agreement on the subject.

“With the agreement I made with the president (Nasser al-Khelaïfi) this summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, it’s the most important,” Mbappé said at the beginning of January.

Both camps had recognized that the striker, still contractually linked to PSG until June 30, had waived part of his bonuses in an agreement made with the club last summer after his exclusion from the team for a month.

Bonus paid in February

The figure for these bonuses then amounted to around 60 to 70 million euros, according to a Source close to the club, financially covering the club from the departure of the French star, at the end of his contract in June and free to commit wherever he wants without transfer compensation. But ultimately, the club paid this bonus in February to Mbappé, according to one of the sources close to the negotiations to AFP, without specifying the reasons for this change.

By signing his contract in 2022, Mbappé secured a salary of 72 million euros gross annually, a signing bonus of 150 million euros, payable in three installments, and a loyalty bonus of increasing amount, 70 million euros gross the first year, 80 million the second and 90 million if the option for a third season is exercised, according to Le Parisien.

Without extending his lease further, Mbappé could have received more than 200 million euros at the end of the season, but this is not the case with this salary deduction. With these new tensions, the striker, who began preparation for Euro 2024 on Wednesday with the French team at Clairefontaine, will have experienced an eventful final season until the end.
