Paris Saint-Germain has not paid the salary for the month of April to Kylian Mbappé, who is leaving at the end of the season, with whom discussions are still ongoing, AFP learned on Wednesday from sources close to the matter.

This non-payment of the salary for the month of April is linked to the agreement which was reached last summer between Kylian Mbappé and the club, at the end of which the player undertook to waive part of his bonuses, a Source close to the matter explained to AFP, specifying that the discussions are “calm” to find “a positive outcome”. “Everything is about to be resolved,” added the Source, without indicating the exact amount of this deduction.

According to another Source close to the negotiations interviewed by AFP, in addition to the withholding of salary, there is the non-payment of a bonus, for a total of around 80 million euros. This decision was made at the club’s initiative but without having informed the star and no agreement was sealed, according to this Source, confirming information from “L’Equipe”.

Contacted by AFP, the entourage of the 25-year-old French star and PSG did not respond immediately.

The two parties recognized at the start of the year that Mbappé, still contractually linked to PSG until June 30, had waived part of his bonuses in an agreement concluded with the club last summer after his sidelining of the team for a month.

The figure for these bonuses amounts to around 60 to 70 million euros, according to a Source close to the club, financially covering the club from the departure of the French star, at the end of his contract in June and free to commit wherever he wishes without transfer compensation. Mbappé is strongly anticipated at Real Madrid.

But the club finally paid this bonus in February to Mbappé, according to one of the sources close to the negotiations.

By signing his contract in 2022, Mbappé secured a salary of 72 million euros gross annually, a signing bonus of 150 million euros, payable in three installments, and a loyalty bonus of increasing amount, 70 million euros gross the first year, 80 million the second and 90 million if the option for a third season is exercised, according to the “Parisien”.
