Formula 1 | Magnussen: I found myself stuck against the rail by Perez

Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen is one of three involved in the first start crash at Monaco.

The Dane collided with Sergio Perez and he believes he is not responsible for the accident. The stewards have also classified this as a racing incident, certainly to the relief of Magnussen who still risks a suspension for a race if he takes 2 penalty points on his license.

“From my point of view, I had a good part of my front level with Perez’s back and when he went towards the wall, I was pushed against the wall and I made contact with him. “

“I had confidence that he was going to give me space since I was there. It’s not a corner where you brake, it’s a straight corner so you have to have a wide car otherwise you don’t give the other guy any options.”

“From my point of view, I was there and I found myself stuck against the wall and I couldn’t do anything.”

For Nico Hülkenberg, collateral victim of this clash, “It was not necessary”.

“It was a typical accident on the first lap of the race. Two drivers who both didn’t want to let go and didn’t leave enough room on a tight track like Monaco, and I was the unlucky victim.”

“Whether it’s my teammate or Checo, I don’t know, but it’s nonsense again!”
