the goalie situation is all wrong with the Penguins

It’s probably the worst kept secret on earth. But time is running out for the Penguins.

Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Karlsson, Eller, Rakell, Hayes, Rust… The Pens are old and this may be their last chance to make the playoffs this season in Pittsburgh.

The problem? In front of the net, the situation of the goalkeepers is all wrong.

For a second game in a row, Mike Sullivan decided to make a big decision by leaving out the team’s best goaltender, Tristan Jarry.

He won’t even be dressed for tonight’s game…

Mike Sullivan will instead trust Alex Nedeljkovic, who has presented terrible statistics since the start of the campaign (efficiency rate of .861 and goals against average of 5.05).

This is not ideal:

Jarry had a bad game against the Sabers last Wednesday, allowing three goals on five shots.

But it goes further than that.

The goalkeeper is having a miserable start to the season and his poor performances date back to last season. Jarry has only two small victories in his last 12 starts and that is not enough to help his club.

Result? It really looks like it’s the beginning of the end for him in Pittsburgh.

It would be interesting because this summer, no club was interested in getting him from Pittsburgh even though the Penguins put him on the market.

This is what we read from the pen of Josh Yohe (The Athletic) in a recent article:

The Penguins must trade Tristan Jarry.

Because in all of this, I especially feel bad for Sidney Crosby.

The end of his career is approaching and we know he wants to win. But he doesn’t have the resources to achieve this.

Crosby had 94 points (42 goals) last season at age 36, but he can’t do it all alone either…

I also wonder what that means for Kyle Dubas, who may be starting to feel the heat right now even though he hasn’t been stationed in Pittsburgh for long.

After all, his plan was to make the Penguins win and allow Crosby to dream of one last Stanley Cup.

Quite the opposite is happening right now…

In burst

– Such a good decision on the part of the Panthers:

– At least it’s clear.

– There’s mass action tonight:

Nice.
