the essential
At the end of the morning, the Albi U17s will try to set an example for the seniors. The Tigers will challenge the TO in the final of the French championship.

This Sunday in orange and black in Narbonne (the colors of the fifteen players of the Aude city), will, in any case, be marked with a milestone for Albi Rugby League which will present two teams in the final. But before the seniors at the end of the day, the cadets will open the ban at 11:30 a.m. against TO XIII, supported by the entire Albigensian people. The supporters who came on board numerous coaches and cars will have left the episcopal city early in the morning, so as not to miss a bit of the performance of the cadets, now called U17. Because whoever goes to the Mazicou stadium knows the atmosphere that reigns from the moment the curtain rises where the youth teams express themselves before their elders.

A generation of talent

For the cadets’ semi-final, won 32-12 against Lézignan, the stands were full from the kick-off. And it is in front of thousands of spectators that they will perform in Narbonne this Sunday morning. The two co-trainers Nicolas Ballet and Ahmed Boualem, partners for eight years, have already experienced the joy of winning the Coupe de France with the juniors in 2016, associated with Jérôme Jacob – a team in which a certain Nittim Pedrero also played. –, then in 2020 with the cadets against Lézignan.

This season’s generation is talented as hell. Seven of its players are selected for the next French training course at CREPS in Toulouse, on June 5 and 6: Léo Ricard, Titouan Binda, Sione Lamelangi, Jimmy Bavent, Ilan Boualem, Yanis Ballet and Timéo Crochet. Together, the two coaches declare: “This generation is the next generation and we want to keep all these boys to become first teammates in three or four years.”

And to continue: “We have a lot of boys making up the backbone of the team who come from last year’s Cup finalist group. Not to mention the rise of talented U15s. The 30 players in the squad played during the season, we warmly thank Romain Darquenne, the club’s volunteer cameraman, who offers us travel and hotel accommodation on Saturday evening, which will allow us to scout the field with team one on Saturday at 3 p.m. hours.”

We measure the symbol and the emotional charge that this represents for these young people. Even if we suspect that the opposition provided by the Toulouse residents will not be an easy task, we can see the significance that winning the title would represent. The support of an entire people, the salute to Ahmed Boualem who will devote himself next year to the management of the front page, and the cumulative talent of all these young people plead in favor of winning a first title at the end of the year. morning for Albi Rugby League.
