Asked after the victory against Monaco in the play-offs (63-46) which definitively validated the rise of the USBDA women’s team in Ligue 2, Fayssal Rhennam had these words: “We will now enjoy, rest and leave on holiday. Then, let’s get back to work because it will happen quickly. »

And, indeed, it happened quickly. Less than a week after the curtain came down on the 2023-2024 season, exceptional for the club from the city of Dukes with three titles up for grabs, President Gandinion this Friday, May 24, 2024, revealed part of the work already carried out with thea presentation of those who will be members of the White House roster.

A palpable complicity

The unity of a group, of a workforce, is forged in the complicity on and off the field. At this moment, it is much too early to say if the mayonnaise will take place between old and new players from Alençon but the fact remains that the new recruits of the club from the capital of Orne displayed a certain amount on the stage a few moments before their introduction.

And, this complicity was born and strengthened over the course of their respective careers. What underlines Bintou Moctar (ex-Aulnoye, Ligue 2, 21 years old, 1.87 m, position 5): “We all had to meet because we play against each other, because there are summer tournaments , because we were together in a training center, because we played in the French youth team. » A first recruit “with a good training course” (according to his new coach) who announces the color of local recruitment.

A physical presence in the painting

For each meeting which will be a fight, especially physical, for a promoted club whose main objective will be the quest to maintain, the Alençon staff focused on strengthening his painting. “We have a real racket with 4 players who have impact and who are complementary,” says Fayssal Rhennam, the Alençon coach. In addition to the former INSEP resident, three other players occupy identical or similar positions (positions 4/5 or 5). Absent, the Malian Kankou Coulibaly (ex-Charnay, Women’s League, 34 years old, 1.90 m, position 5) will bring » toughness and experience. »

No resentment despite the three defeats suffered against Alençon, the former Monegasque Fayzat Djoumoi (23 years old, position 4, 1.84 m) joins the Alençon project. “Fayzat is a choice in reality because the videos are different. She really impacted me during the tripe confrontation with Monaco, breathes the Alençon coach. It meets many of our criteria in relation to what we wish to put in place. »

A quartet completed by Morgane Armant (ex-Saint-Amand, Women’s League, 24 years old, 1.90m, position 5), a player with an atypical and particular background who “will bring her experience, her serenity to the group. She is very attracted to work and has room for improvement. »

A strengthened position 1 and diverse aspirations

If the racket is a predominant sector in basketball, the lead is just as much, and the decision-makers of the city of Dukes have not neglected this sector with the signing of Jade Gaillard (ex-Montbrison, Ligue 2, 21 years old, 1.76 m, position 1/2). “She experienced a rise from Ligue 2 to the Women’s League with Angers. She will bring us her experience and her winning culture. » Eclectic recruits in their choice to sign for Alençon. “A club which has ambitions and where there is a good structure to progress” for Jade. “A proposed challenge and a coach who likes to work like me” for Morgane. “A vision shared with the staff and a team with good values on and off the field” for Fayzat. “The maintenance project but not only” for Bintou. Without forgetting and unanimously: the fervor of Louvrier!

Before tasting the joys of the candy box, there will be a preparation to be carried out. This is set for August 12 with medical and physical tests. Then, there will follow seven weeks of diverse and varied work punctuated by 6 friendly matches – 3 against Women’s League teams, 2 against Nationale 1 teams and the last against a Ligue 2 opponent, including two in Alençon.

The first official match of the Prefecturals will be a Coupe de France match on September 28 before the resumption of the championship set for October 5.
