They, at the same time, underlined that the choice of Marrakech to host these championships stems from the desire to contribute to the growth of sports tourism in Morocco.

Khalid El Mansouri, president of the FRMP, told the media that so far, 18 countries have confirmed their presence in the men’s field and seven in the women’s field, noting that this is the first edition where men and women will compete at the same time. It should be remembered that the African men’s championship has been organized since 2007, while the first women’s championship was held in 2019.

This championship, organized in Morocco for the second time, after the 2013 edition in Casablanca, will be an opportunity to demonstrate the organizational capabilities of the Kingdom, in anticipation of its candidacy for the organization of the world championship, added K. El Mansouri. “We hope to win this title for the third time for men and the first for women,” he further confided, recalling that since 2007, Morocco has won 12 medals on the African level, 5 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze.

For his part, Sadik Guermah, secretary general of the African Bowls Sports Confederation (CASB), assured that Morocco’s candidacy to organize this event was welcome within the continental body, thanks to the Kingdom’s good reputation in the organizational field. This Moroccan, newly appointed to this position within the African body, insisted on the involvement of all stakeholders to ensure the success of this sporting event, affirming that the organization of these championships in Morocco had a favorable response among the participating teams.

Noureddine Kotby, national technical director of the FRMPindicated that Morocco will be represented at these championships by teams A and B, the composition of which has not yet been definitively fixed. “After several meetings and tournaments, we arrived at a sketch of the two teams, the composition of which will be final before the African championship,” he explained. “We aspire to win gold,” should he add.

Morocco won the 8th edition of the African Championship male, early November 2021 in Ouagadougou. Supervised by coach Abdellatif Laouija, the Moroccan selection included Khaled Bennar, Omar Al-Saghir, Youssef Al-Saghir and Hamza Kharbouch.
