MLB | Trading Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette? The Blue Jays are thinking about it

Could the unthinkable happen? Could the Toronto Blue Jays trade Bo Bichette or Vladimir Guerrero Jr., or both?

According to an American League team executive who spoke to journalist Mark Feinsand, this scenario is far from far-fetched. Not only could the Toronto club be open to the possibility, they have already had discussions with other teams about the duo.

One thing is certain, if this comes to fruition, the two players will not be offered at a discount.

“I don’t think they are opposed to it [à cette idée] “, the leader told Feinsand. “They talked to teams about it. The demands were ridiculous, but I think they’re going to try to reshape their roster and using these guys to get other players might be the way to do that. »

“Neither has had a great start to the season, but other teams might view them as players in need of a change of scenery,” another National League executive suggested to Feinsand. “Everyone knows what they can do, but this team maybe needs a change. »

Unless they both sign long-term contract extensions, Bichette and Guerrero will become free agents after the 2025 season.

After 43 games this season, Bichette has a .230 batting average with 38 hits, two home runs and 16 RBIs.

After a difficult start to the season, Guerrero had an excellent month of May at the plate, despite a drop in power. Guerrero is hitting .404 this month. In 46 games this season, Guerrero posted a .286 batting average with 50 hits, four home runs and 21 RBIs.

The Blue Jays (21-25) are in last place in the American League East Division, 10.5 games behind the first-place New York Yankees.
