Club Brugge resumes with a trip to Westerlo this Saturday. If the Blauw en Zwart will be able to count on Raphael Onyedika, it is however still a little early for Bjorn Meijer, finally back with the group.

Behind the banal phrase “The internationals are back” sometimes hide a few sighs of relief. This is the case of Raphael Onyedikaback at Club Brugge. Last weekend, he and the rest of the Nigerian team were held for 15 hours in an abandoned Libyan airport, without water, food, or even telephone service.

In Knokke-Heist, Onyedika immediately joined training. He will therefore be available against Westerlo and especially against AC Milan despite his traumatic experience.

But he is not the only one to have made his return: Bjorn Meijerwho had been absent for more than five months, resumed training with the group. The Dutchman is recovering from his knee operation.

Competition will intensify

Despite his resumption of training, it will still be a few weeks before he is fully operational. The left back is working hard, but he should not yet be included in the selection for the next matches.

The competition on the flanks will therefore become a little tougher for the Blauw en Zwart. If Meijer resumes his starting place on the left, Maxim De Cuyper could slide down the right flank again. But with Joaquin Seys, Kyriani Sabbe and Hugo Siquet, there is already a traffic jam.
