Table tennis | The disillusionment of the Lebrun brothers at the European Championships

The Lebrun brothers made their debut on the same table in these European Championships. And as we feared, their adventure did not end today.

The Lebrun brothers continue to torture us

The Lebrun brothers played their first match in these European Championships in Linz, Austria. Opposed to the Danish pair Martin Andersen – Jonathan Groth, the brothers had to assume their status as number 1 seed in this tournament. And their debut couldn’t have been more successful. From the first set, the two Frenchmen missed out and lost 11-9. Something tells us that we are going to experience five days of great beauty.

But as is often the case with the Lebruns, our good times are brief. From the next round, they rectify the situation, and find all possible and imaginable zones on the opposing table. On the other hand, the Danes are overwhelmed, just like us in front of our screen. The score flies as quickly as the French smashes: 11-6, 11-5, 11-9. Our hope lasted exactly a few minutes, the time of the first set.

Add to that the victory of the French pair Esteban Dorr and Florian Bourrassaud in the first round of the men’s doubles, and you get a first day to forget for our federation. Hoping that the singles table will be more lenient towards us.
