Stanley Cup in Montmagny: a chance to realize a dream for many

Hockey fans from Montmagny, in Chaudière-Appalaches, were able to admire the Stanley Cup on Sunday.

The legendary trophy was at a Hyundai dealership due to a competition won thanks to the candidacy of Pierre Bouffard, an important volunteer in the sector’s hockey community.

“I’m really proud, honestly,” says the instigator of the project in an interview with TVA Nouvelles. We don’t volunteer in hockey to attract the Stanley Cup, we don’t know that. We really do it out of passion, and that’s what passion brings us, today it brings us the Stanley Cup, so it’s really great.”

Some hockey fans were happy to realize “a little boy’s dream” by seeing the trophy up close.

“We had the dream of our life,” says one of them interviewed by TVA Nouvelles.

“Beautiful memories” for Maxime Talbot

The Magnymont residents who went to admire the Stanley Cup also had the opportunity to meet former National Hockey League (NHL) hockey player Maxime Talbot.

The latter won the coveted trophy during the 2008-2009 season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Maxime Talbot confides that the cup brings back “a lot of memories” to him.

“It’s great memories, for sure, winning it, lifting it on the ice, all the celebrations afterwards. It’s been 15 years, it’s been a long time, but it’s still special. You see your name on it, you remember the summer parties, all that, and the difficult moments, too, during the conquest of the cup,” he says.
