IN IMAGES, IN PICTURES. When Anfield celebrates Jurgen Klopp for an emotional farewell to Liverpool

It’s a page that has definitely turned, this Sunday, May 19. At Anfield, German coach Jürgen Klopp, 56, made his last appearance on the Liverpool bench. The tactician plays at home against Wolves, before retiring from the footballing landscape to rest.

One last full of emotion

Arriving in 2015, the man definitely left his mark on the history of the Reds, after a nine-year stint, where he established a new era. The supporters, as well as the inhabitants of the city, were waiting for this day to pay him a great tribute. It started as soon as the bus arrived near the stadium, with a whole procession.

The festivities were then expected at the stadium… The players and the coach entered the pitch in front of an imposing tifo, writing the first name “Jürgen” in the main stand.

The Reds anthem, “ You will never walk alone ”, was then sung, with particular emotion for the coach, who was very touched… He greeted the audience many times, full of emotion.

In the stands, with scarves or signs, many supporters made a gesture to greet Klopp’s last.

The whole city paid tribute

More than a football match, the whole city was immersed in a special atmosphere this Sunday, May 19, with numerous actions.

On the pitch, however, the players ensured the continuity of the festivities, with a score of 2-0 at the break, in numerical superiority from the 28e minute of play and Semedo’s red card.
