The future ex-OM coach has left some areas of work for his leaders and for the one who will replace him on the Marseille sidelines.

This Sunday evening, at 9 p.m., Olympique de Marseille travels to Le Havre for the final day of Ligue 1 of the season. This will be Jean-Louis Gasset’s last match on the Marseille sidelines but also the last of his career.

At a press conference, the 70-year-old technician returned to the main deficiency of his team. “It’s not a lack of involvement, it’s a lack of character. I don’t understand why we can’t transcend ourselves for goals like that. There are no secrets. We lost away against the first eight or nine. It’s charisma that counts in Marseille, personality”lamented the man who was Laurent Blanc’s deputy for a long time.

“It lacks grinta”

“To have a competitive team, here more than elsewhere, you need a little more. The group built here is a group of good guys, but it lacks leaders, it lacks grinta. You have to know this and build taking into account this very important parameter. This club and this city deserve a great team“, continues the former Ivory Coast coach.

Unless circumstances are extremely favorable this Sunday evening, OM will not qualify for a European Cup at the end of this season. Jean-Louis Gasset became coach on February 20, replacing Gennaro Gattuso.
