Everton have tempered John Textor’s comments about wanting to buy the English club. According to them, “there is still work to be done” before the final sale.

The English club Everton, which Lyon chairman and owner John Textor wants to buy, on Thursday toned down the American billionaire’s comments, assuring that“There is still work to be done” before the final transfer.

“Positive discussions and progress continue to be made with Mr. Textor to formalize an agreement but there is still work to be done to finalize the transaction,” the Premier League club said in a statement.

“Therefore, the comments made by Mr. Textor represent his personal views only.”it is added.
The owner of the Eagle Football group, of which OL is a part along with Botafogo (Brazil) and Molenbeek (Belgium), indicated on Wednesday during a press conference that he wanted to buy the English club “in his own name”.

“It would come from my own funding. I would be the buyer myself, not Eagle.”Mr. Textor said. “I will be the investor and a new holding company will be created for this purpose. Some of my friends will participate in this operation but I will be the majority shareholder. There will be no impact with OL but it can still be a good partnership. It will be debt-free and with 100% equity to invest in Everton Football Group.”he added.

“There is a 90% chance that this will happen, but the current owner also has other choices.”said John Textor, who will have to sell his shares in the English club Crystal Palace, where he is a 40% minority shareholder. The “Toffees” are currently last in the championship with three defeats in as many matches.
