Erling Haaland: a double almost synonymous with the title

Manchester City will enter the final day of the Premier League on Sunday in pole position. Their 2-0 success in London against Tottenham puts them two points ahead of Arsenal.

In a surprising atmosphere – Tottenham fans did little to encourage their team, fearing that it would benefit their sworn enemy Arsenal – the Citizens, with Manuel Akanji, seemed nervous. They had to wait until the 51st minute to open the scoring through Haaland, served by de Bruyne.

The title holders can also thank their replacement goalkeeper Ortega, who came on for the injured Ederson, and who saved in several circumstances, notably when Son arrived alone in front of him after a hiccup from Akanji (86th). From the penalty spot, Haaland secured the victory (91st).

On Sunday, a success for Manchester City at home against West Ham will bring an unprecedented fourth league title to Pep Guardiola and his men. Arsenal, which will host Everton, therefore no longer has control of its destiny.

Tottenham’s defeat also helped Aston Villa, who are now assured of finishing fourth and qualifying for the next Champions League.
