The German Alexander Zverev reached the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Rome without incident by beating the Portuguese Nuno Borges, 53rd in the world, 6-2, 7-5 on Tuesday.

A third consecutive victory on clay

The world No. 5 will play his third quarter-final of the year in Masters 1000 after Indian Wells and Miami. He also scored a third victory on clay, something he had not yet managed to do this season on ocher. A notable performance since he has still not lost a single set in the Italian capital.
