Villeneuve. Successful test attempt for the equestrian endurance race

Last Sunday, May 5, the young association “la chevée de l’Ouest Aveyron”, affiliated with the French equestrian federation, organized the first equestrian endurance race departing from Villeneuve. The sun was out, making us forget the vagaries of the last few days. The paths were restored after the rally, so all the conditions were in place for the success of this day. The logistics center was located at the fairgrounds. 4 veterinarians ensured, at the start and at the end of each loop, that the horse’s physical conditions were good. There were therefore 93 starters in 3 categories; professionals, amateurs and clubs. 4 types of events were offered: 80 km (2×30 and 1×20), 60 km (2×30), 40 km (2×20) and 20 km. The competitors took paths between Villeneuve and Gelles via the Causse plot. It should be noted that the speeds of the races were limited and should not exceed 60 km/h. In the end, the heart rate was measured in order to be taken into account for the points awarded to the competitors. Around 3 p.m., all the participants gathered around the podium. The awards ceremony took place in the presence of Jean-Pierre Masbou, mayor of Villeneuve. At the opening, the president of the association, Marie-Caroline Bec Lalisse, did not fail to thank all the partners and volunteers who came in large numbers. The mild temperatures and the good organization of this first day of competition largely contributed to the success of this equestrian race.

Carriages and garage sales

The traditional Pentecost parade that the Rouergue horse-drawn carriage association organizes each year will take place on Sunday May 19. The flea market will be spread around the town of the bastide all day long. 2 parades are scheduled; one in the morning at 11 a.m. and another in the afternoon at 3 p.m.
