For the penultimate day of the Regional 1 championship, pool C, the Biarnais made their last trip of the season, and the longest, by going this Saturday evening to the Mende Avenir Foot Lozère field. A top-of-the-table meeting between two teams still in the race to finish on the podium.
This meeting started in the worst way for the Lotois who conceded a goal in the 3rd minute on a through ball taken by a Mendoi striker who deceived the visiting goalkeeper. Trailing 1-0, coach Patrick Gauthier’s players reacted quickly and could have benefited from a penalty for a foul on the Biarnais striker but the referee decided otherwise.
At the half-hour mark, the Lozériens scored the break goal following a good cross taken into the area by a Mendois player.
Trailing 2 to 0, the Biarnais moved forward but found themselves down to ten in the 35th minute then down to nine in the 45th minute following two red cards.
From then on the fate of this meeting was no longer in doubt. But despite a double numerical inferiority, the Biarnais team managed to preserve this 2-0 lead until the hour mark when Mende found the net for the third time in the game.
The score remained there and AF Biars Bretenoux conceded a second consecutive loss in the league after the narrow 1-0 defeat conceded in the previous match against L’Union Saint-Jean.
There is one match left at AF Biars Bretenoux to end a Regional 1 season where the primary objective of the Biarnais, namely remaining in R1, has already been achieved. But let’s be sure that coach Patrick Gauthier’s players will do their best in two weeks for their last match of the season against Muret in Biars-sur-Cère to finish in style in front of their home crowd.
