Tadej Pogacar won the 8th stage of the Tour of Italy at the summit in Prati di Tivo. The Slovenian waited for the sprint at the end of this pass of around fifteen kilometers and won in a group of around ten runners. Daniel Martinez and Ben O’Connor complete the podium for this stage. This is already the third stage victory for the Slovenian since the start of this Giro last Saturday.

Of course, Tadej Pogacar keeps his pink jersey and grabs a few more seconds from all his rivals.

For his part, Cian Uijtdebroeks had a very good stage, finishing in seventh place, in the first group with most of the other leaders. The Belgian regains the white jersey that he gave to Luke Plapp after Friday’s time trial. At the same time, he moved up to 5th place in the general ranking.

The pink jersey team had controlled the peloton all day long, never leaving much room for the breakaway which had formed after the Forca Capistrello, the first difficulty of the day. After a big fight, fourteen riders managed to gain a little lead, including Romain Bardet, Julian Alaphilippe and the first winner of this Giro, Jhonatan Narvaez. But the peloton never left them more than 2’30” ahead.
