WNBA: Caitlin Clark played her first game in front of her Indiana Fever fans

It was only a preseason game, but it was still the first time that Caitlin Clark played in front of her new Indiana Fever fans.

Following an 83-80 victory over the Atlanta Dream, the WNBA’s newest star can now look ahead to the start of the regular season next week.

After a slow start, Clark got her share of applause when she scored her first basket with seven minutes left in the first quarter. She followed up a few moments later with her trademark, a downtown basket.

The one who was selected first overall in the draft by Indiana had missed her first four attempts from downtown before sinking a basket. She finished the game with 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. She made four of her 12 field goals and was two of nine on shots worth three points.

In her first game, she scored 21 points against the Dallas Wings.

Clark and the Fever will kick off their regular season next Tuesday against the Connecticut Sun.
