The Union Saint-Gilloise has a date with History this Thursday. The people of Brussels will play the final of the Belgian Cup against Antwerp.

Obviously a very important meeting for Union players, even a unique opportunity in a career. Among the most experienced elements of the Saint-Gillois core, captain Anthony Morris.

For the Luxembourg goalkeeper, this is not the first Belgian Cup final. Indeed, he attended Standard’s victory against Westerlo during the 2010-2011 season. “It’s special to be here. I was already there with Standard, against Westerlo. Now I can’t wait to be on the pitch,” he declared at a press conference.

Anthony Morris discusses criticism

Anthony Moris has had quite a turbulent few weeks. Author of several big errors at the start of the Champions Play-offs, when the Union was experiencing a low point, he was the target of numerous criticisms.

“For me, it wasn’t too serious, I mainly had to reassure others. Because it was especially my family who were affected by the criticism,” he confided. “I always said you have to accept criticism because it’s part of the sport. I knew the tide would turn if I continued to work hard, and that’s it.”

Moris nevertheless admits that this was not easy, in a period when nothing was really happening and that criticism was also expressed from the press. “It’s been a difficult time, especially because of the media attention, but I don’t blame you, quite the contrary,” Moris told reporters with a smile.
