Lille: Genesio “counts heavily” on Cabella, David and Meunier despite their sanction against PSG

“The incident is closed.” In a press conference this Thursday on the eve of a trip to Saint-Etienne, for a match counting for the fourth day of Ligue 1 (this Friday at 8:45 p.m.), Bruno Genesio returned to the sanctions taken against Rémy Cabella, Jonathan David and Thomas Meunier during LOSC’s last outing, against Paris before the international break.

“They remain players on whom I count enormously”

The three players had started the game on the bench against PSG, paying for a lack of discipline. They allegedly dodged a collective dinner planned with the rest of the team, the day before the match. “I defined rules at the beginning of the season, there are not many but they must be respected,” Genesio said this Thursday in front of the press. “It can happen, it happened once and I hope it will not happen again.”

The three players had come on during the game against the Parisians. “The incident is closed,” continued Bruno Genesio. “My judgment regarding the players in question has not changed, they remain players on whom I count enormously, just like all the others.”

Bruno Genesio also gave an update on the situation of Edon Zhegrova, who was left out of the Kosovo selection in the middle of a training session in recent days. The right winger was sanctioned for disciplinary reasons. “I spoke with him, the discussion will remain between us. There will be no sanction since it is not within the framework of the club,” said the Dogues coach. “I have Edon’s version, I trust him. There will be absolutely nothing from us.”
