Handball: the BBH loses against Metz and moves away a little from the title

The BBH handball players took their lead against Metz, this Wednesday evening at the Brest Arena for the 23rd day of the Butagaz Energie League. They lost 19-24 against their direct competitors for the women’s D1 title. With this defeat, the Brestoises are only two points ahead of the Messinestheir only competitors to be champion of France.

A difficult second period

After the first fifteen minutes, the two teams split with an 11-all score. The Brestoises, however, only trailed once during the first half (between the 10th and 15th minute) and showed a lot of commitment and desire. The BBH goalkeeper, Filter, had a great first period with 11 saves, including a penalty. It was at this moment that there was one of the highlights of the first half hour. Grijseels received a red card after putting the ball into Filter’s head.

The second period on the other hand was complicated for the Brestoises after taking the advantage from the start (12-11), they were dominated and led by scores throughout. The Metz goalkeeper had a very good half-time by making a series of saves. Until the 15th minute, Metz had a 2 to 3 goal lead before having 5 two minutes from the end of the match.

The title moves away a little for the BBH

With this defeat, the BBH players are only 2 points ahead of Metz and Lorraine can steal first place in D1 if they win their late match against ESBF (Besançon). In this case, they would have a point lead and could keep it given that they only face affordable teams in the last three league matches. This first defeat of the season for the BBH can therefore have serious consequences.
