Deprived, for this first clash of the season between two teams undefeated in two matches, of Prouillac, Peltier, Doumbia and Mendes, it is with courage and solidarity that the Lotois emerged victorious from a stifling meeting with forty minutes of a fierce battle.
From the start of the match Jegun scored a 3-point basket but Dronjak, as captain for the evening, tied the two teams (3/3 in the 2nd).
Despite a superb defense, the CSB did not take the opportunity to widen the gap (10/8 in the 6th). This is the moment that Béthune chose to score 9 points in a row and thus give Lotois a 5-point lead in the 10th (19/14).
In the second quarter Benjamin Benne and Hugo Discazeaux take over in attack from the Dronjak/Béthune duo (18/21, 12th). Jegun then toughens his game and the score changes little. Diakhate and Benne score from mid-distance to equalize in the 20th (35/35).
From the start of the third quarter, Dronjak scored twice following. The back and forth score begins between the two teams (43/45 in the 24th) but Benne, author of two consecutive 3-point baskets, and Dronjak on free throws, allow CSB to be ahead again in the score at the 30th (53/51).
In the last and fourth quarter, Diakhate at 3 points raises an almost full cauldron (57/53 in the 32nd). Benne (16 years old) scores his third 3-point basket (he will score 13 points in total) and Béthune, CSB’s top scorer with 21 points, gives some breathing room to his team (62/60 in the 36th minute).
Béthune, with 10 points in a row in the last four minutes, will seal the fate of this match and thus ensure the third victory in three meetings for the CSB.
After three days of championship with as many victories, CahorSauzet Basket is co-leader of the group with Ossun before traveling next Saturday to Castéra-Verduzan to try to make it to four.
Curtain raiser: CahorSauzet Basket 2 beats Quint-Fonsegrives 1: 69 to 59.
