Monaco’s Russian international midfielder, Aleksandr Golovin, 28, has extended his contract for three seasons, until June 2029, the Principality club announced this Friday, October 4.

Arriving in Monaco from CSKA Moscow for 30 million euros, in 2018 at the end of the World Cup which took place in Russia, Golovin, then aged 22, had great difficulty adapting to the Principality and then to impose itself there.

“The club gives me its confidence”

But now he is one of the leaders of the group led by Adi Hütter. Moreover, with 209 matches, in all competitions (31 goals and 39 assists), the Russian international (47 caps, 6 goals) is the longest-serving player in the Monegasque squad.

“I am very happy with this contract extension, explained the player on the club’s website. The club gives me its confidence and I will be keen to continue to give everything for AS Monaco. I am convinced that we will continue to achieve great things together. »

Golovin, who signed for five seasons in 2018, had already extended for one season in March 2020, then for two seasons, in February 2023. This new extension, this time for three seasons, is the third of his career in Principality.

If he ends his contract in June 2029, Golovin will then be 33 years old, and spent 11 years in Monaco.
