500 dollars per week: Donald Brashear richer with Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse

Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse are well-known names in the world of hockey, and their latest decision to buy a North American Hockey League team in Sainte-Hyacinthe is on everyone’s lips.

It is especially the “cash” that they will pay to their players that is the talk of the town. In fact, they will pay $500 per week to each of their players, as is the case everywhere in the North American hockey league.

Instead of “Lappy” and “Tender”, they should go for Donald Brashear, star player of the Marquis de Jonquière, in the hope of creating a real event in Sainte-Hyacinthe.

Donald Brashear, a living hockey legend, gained attention when he joined the Marquis. With an impressive career including over 1,000 NHL games, Brashear embodies excellence and dedication to the sport.

His arrival generated considerable excitement, attracting more fans to games and rekindling the passion for hockey in the region. And he continues to claim that he is not here to fight.

“When the Marquis called me last summer, that was my first question: are you calling me to go fight? I told them to let it go if that was it. I’m not going there to fight, I’ve been doing that all my life. »

The Marquis saw their attendance numbers increase from 1,800 to nearly 2,200 on average per game, a testament to Brashear’s immediate impact on the team and community.

“It’s pretty much the same everywhere we go… When I called Donald last summer to ask him to join us, there were people in the league who asked me where I was going with There, every time we play on the road, there are people who call me to find out if Donald is going to be there.” says CEO Bob Desjardins to the Press.

Even former players like Patrick Bordeleau, who have already played in the NHL, have expressed their admiration for Brashear, highlighting his positive influence in the locker room and on the ice.

“The first time I saw him in the dressing room I was so impressed. The guy is 52 years old and still has a beach shape. I hope I look like this in 15 years (he is 37 years old)” (Le Journal de Montréal)

“Seriously, I have so much respect for what he accomplished. Plus, he was doing what I love to do. He played over 1000 games in the NHL. No one is going to be able to take that away from him.”

Brashear himself is modest about his role and his motivation. He emphasizes his love for the game and his competitive spirit, dismissing speculation that financial problems might push him to continue playing.

“I participate in events in Philadelphia, I have my old-timer’s pension with the NHL, and I work 10 hours a week in a hockey school in Quebec…” (credit: La Presse)

“If I was in a bad situation financially, I would work a lot more than that. Everyone asks me that question and the answer is that I like playing hockey. I like competing. It’s that’s why I still play. I never talk about my financial statements because that’s not what’s important in life.

His commitment to hockey goes beyond just salary, and he is determined to bring his experience and knowledge to young players.

For Bob Desjardins, head coach and general manager of the Marquis, Brashear’s arrival represents a home run.

“It’s a home run that I’m very proud of,” said Desjardins. I’m glad he chose our organization, because he had been approached by two or three other organizations. That means our approach was the right one.” (credit: Le Journal de Montréal)

It recognizes Brashear’s checkered background and his unwavering dedication to hockey, distinguishing him as more than just a sideshow attraction.

“But Donald is not a circus beast. If he does it, it’s because he feels that the team needs it, he insisted. He’s a guy who has weathered all the storms in his career. He has experience, he knows what it takes to go all the way.” (credit: Journal de Montréal)

By recruiting Brashear, Lapierre and Latendresse would breathe new life into the Sainte-Hyacinthe team.

Being multi-millionaires, they should be willing to invest more than the $500 a week to make sure Brashear is on their side.

The Poche Bleue duo is ready to do anything to ensure that Sainte-Hyacinthe becomes the scene of a major event in the world of hockey.

Brashear must become the centerpiece of their strategy. They will have to lengthen the “peanuts”. Brashear will get you some money at the ticket booth. You might as well pay him $800 to $1000 a week.
