Second defeat in a row for the Catalan Dragons, who after conceding 30 points at Leigh, took 30 at Wigan this Thursday evening (30-8), even if the intensity and desire were not comparable.
Looking for a reaction after their rout last week, the Perpignans, well in place during the first twenty minutes, quickly led 8-0 after a penalty from Arthur Mourgue and a try from Julian Bousquet in front of a feverish Wiganers at the start portion.
But in front of their audience at the DW Stadium, the Cherry’s and White were quick to react with a try from Luke Thompson in the 28th minute. And if the Dragons took the lead at the break, they quickly became disillusioned after returning from the locker room. Taking advantage of the Catalan indiscipline, the Wigan players, in two accelerations, scored two tries in quick succession thanks to the inspirations of Harry Smith, author of a kick over the top for himself (45th) and a lightning pass for Adam Keighran, the ex-Catalan, four minutes later (18-8, 50th).
Less than a quarter of an hour later, the experienced Liam Farrell came to put an end to the hopes of the Perpignanais (24-8, 64th), before Miski increased the score. The “Dracs” therefore concede a third defeat in the Super League, the second in a row.
Steve McNamara’s players, who once again lacked realism at the end of the game, will host Leeds on May 11, during the 11th day.
