Zapping Football Interview – The underside of amateur football, with Romain Molina

hosted leader this Monday evening for the 35th day of Ligue 2. The Auxerres, trailing one to zero at half-time, were able to turn the tide and win the three goals to one. Christophe Pélissié’s men take valuable points and give themselves some breathing space in while Dunkerque will still have to fight to maintain their position.

Auxerre in comeback mode

The Auxerres started the match in a disappointing way. The Northerners responded pragmatically in the 20th minute. Sangante overflows on the right and offers the ball to his winger, Gessime Yassine, who with a clean strike surprises Donovan Léon. Dunkirk takes the advantage, one to zero. The Auxerres try to react, but Koné disgusts Sinayoko by diverting his shot with a superb save. Dunkirk came close to doubling the lead when Youssouf saw his shot skim Léon’s crossbar in the 40th minute. The Auxerres try their luck from afar with Jubal, whose shot hits the post. On this action, the northern goalkeeper, Koné, seems to be injured. The referee sends the two teams to the locker room with this advantage for Dunkirk, one to zero.

But Auxerre returns to the pitch with lots of good intentions! Sinayoko will equalize in the 51st minute on an excellent service from Perrin. Pélissié’s men will continue their efforts and in the 61st minute, Courtet scores against his side. A goal which gives the advantage to the Burgundians who insist more in this second act. The Northerners took a third blow in the 70th when, Raveloson, scored the goal three to one. The Auxerres will then settle down and take less initiative. The Northerners try through Bilingi in added time but his recovery misses Léon’s goal. This great Auxerre reaction allows Christophe Pélissié’s men to regain a 4-point lead over ASSE, their runner-up.
