Presidents Cup: hot dogs for $10 and local beer for $13

The more things change, the more prices increase in sporting events. The Presidents Cup tournament is no exception. A short detour through the many friendly and comfortable catering areas allows you to see this.

Sitting at a picnic table or nestled in a giant beanbag, it is possible to enjoy a good hot dog accompanied by a 473 ml can of the Archibald microbrewery for the modest sum of… $23, without the taxes.

The hot dog is considered a reference food in the price range, has already explained food market expert Jordan LeBel, professor of marketing at Concordia University. “We know the real prices and people are sensitive to them,” he had already explained to us in an interview.

Certainly, the price of the most ordinary “roteux” should not reach $10!

A ton of photos

The tournament merchandise pavilion is huge near the fairway of the first hole. There you can find a multitude of cossins marked with the golden cut logo and a range of clothing lines… affordable and not so affordable.

When it comes to printed clothing, design experts have fallen into clichés. So much so that through the aisles it feels like one is in the tourist shops of the Montreal-Trudeau airport.

On the back of a t-shirt, we can notice the design of a poutine. On another, we see a beaver and a maple leaf. There are also different styles of hockey jerseys in the colors of the two teams. In short, what we find in the souvenir shops of the Old Port so that international tourists leave the country with a little piece of our heritage.

In press briefings earlier this week, golfers were often asked to name what they knew about Quebec or Canada. Obviously, beavers, maple leaf, maple syrup and poutine were among the top answers.

“Free” for ages 15 and under

According to information obtained by the organizers, it appears that there was an error in the ticketing system. They made a lot of refunds on Thursday. However, tickets for young people aged 15 and under are free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
