From this Friday, Emmaüs Pamiers is selling furniture from the Olympic village. On Wednesday, the community received 20 pallets of furniture which were distributed to the different Ariège sites.

A little piece of the Olympic Games at home. This Friday, September 27, the Emmaüs community of Pamiers is offering various items of furniture from the Parisian Olympic village for sale. As part of a partnership between Emmaüs and the Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, several tonnes were distributed to communities in France.

With the competition officially closed a few weeks ago, the future of the various equipment had to fit into the more responsible and circular event model advocated by the organizing committee. If the sports equipment is bequeathed to the French sports movement, the furniture also had to find a “second life”.

Some of the furniture will also be on sale at the bric-a-brac stores in Lavelanet and Saint-Girons.

On Wednesday September 25, the Emmaüs community of Pamiers received twenty pallets free of charge including coffee tables, beanbag poufs, bedside tables as well as clothes racks and chairs. “Nearly 200 trucks were sent to the different Emmaüs communities, and 80 for the solidarity bank. We will put them on sale from Friday afternoon until stocks last. These are small items, they will be sold between 25 and 40 euros,” says Fabien Paul, head of the Appamean community.

Although the bulk of this furniture is for sale in Pamiers, some will also be sold at the bric-a-brac in Lavelanet and Saint-Girons or even donated, confides Ammar, deputy manager. “We are going to distribute the stock between the three Ariégeois sites. The bric-a-brac of Lavelanet and Saint-Girons have collected 3-4 pallets each. We also have a donation container in preparation for Emmaüs Togo. We will look at ‘There aren’t certain things that can be sent to them.’
