Officially open since May 11, the atmospheric bar La Cigale, located at 79 avenue de la Grande Conche, in Royan, is ready to spend its first fall and winter season in the seaside town. For several weeks, the members of the team have been on alert to welcome the public, three to four evenings a week, in an atmosphere that is intended to be friendly and good-natured. This is the essential thing for Michel Combes, the owner of the establishment, who wishes to make this place “a place of sharing, meetings and friendship. »
Regular and varied programming
A promise that seems to be kept given what awaits the public in the coming months. “We try to keep a regular schedule,” insists Lucas Bruimaud, member of the La Cigale team. For example, this Friday, September 27 at 9 p.m., the swing blues group Perry Gordon Trio will perform on stage to start the weekend with music. The next day, there will be an oval atmosphere, with the live broadcast on the big screen of the Top 14 match between Racing 92 and Stade Rochelais, at 4:30 p.m. Finally, this Sunday from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., a tea dancing to the music of Christian Millet will conclude the month of September (entrance at 15 euros and free snack).
“The goal is to do all types of shows”
La Cigale also intends to offer other, more varied shows by the end of the year. In this sense, she will welcome Florian Hypnétique, a specialist in hypnosis, on October 11, or the comedian Morgan Meli in a one-woman show, on November 15. “We would also like to offer open stages with young local groups for music, for example. The goal is really to do all types of shows,” adds Lucas Bruimaud. And maybe aim a little bigger in the future? “Once it works well, we can afford to take risks and, why not, bring in a headliner. » This bodes well for the future.

Residents opposed to the project maintain the pressure
Shortly after the inauguration of La Cigale on May 11, a group of neighbors, already opposed to such an establishment opening near their homes, expressed their desire to form an association, to take legal action. Local residents felt that the promise of soundproofing the room had not been kept. Some were even considering filing a complaint with the police for neighborhood disturbances, after a private evening organized on Saturday May 25. Contacted at the end of September, the collective affirms that it is still monitoring this matter closely and assures that it has mandated a lawyer, without making further comments.
