Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has been confirmed as the majority shareholder of a football club at just 25 years old.

The Bondynois has in fact finalized the purchase of a majority stake in SM .

Diario AS explains that the purchase had to go through a regulator, and now the DNCG has confirmed the deal, which was made by Interconnected Ventures. Mbappé is the director of Interconnected Ventures, which now owns 80% of Caen, with former majority shareholder Pierre-Antoine Capton reducing his stake to 20%.

Mbappé president of Caen, it’s validated

Caen are currently 13th in Ligue 2, and previous reports put the figure at €20m for a majority stake. The deal was announced in the summer, but has already been agreed, and one sign of the appeal Mbappe will bring is the signing of former international Yann M’Vila. The intention is to lead Caen back to Ligue 1 in the coming years, although with his own playing career clearly to focus on, it is not yet clear how active an owner Mbappe can or will be.

Wednesday was less cheerful for Mbappe, who had to deal with a major setback. He is suffering from a thigh injury and will miss the Madrid derby this weekend.
