Sporting Charleroi ensured its continuation on Friday and can prepare for a new year in the Jupiler Pro League. Mission accomplished for Rik De Mil, even if his results do not impress former Charleroi player Sandro Salamone.
The video analyst worked with Felice Mazzu at KRC Genk, Union, RSC Anderlecht and Sporting Charleroi. He and Mazzu have since left the latter club. De Mil’s work does not impress Salamone.
“We would have also saved the club during the play-downs,” Salamone declared in La Derniere Heure. “We could also have shown the current results. We also won at home against Eupen and RWDM. The results are not very different today either,” he adds.
Worse than Mazzu
According to the video analyst, Mazzu’s successors often do little better than the coach. Even at RSC Anderlecht, who are currently leading the championship.
“We continued the work of Vincent Kompany in leading Anderlecht to its first European group stage in four years,” explains Salamone.
“It cost us points in the league because the core was not strong enough to compete on three fronts,” he continued. “But Brian Riemer’s relationship with the same core was even worse and he couldn’t even lead Anderlecht to the first eight places,” concludes the video analyst.
