Following the announcement by Raphael Varane, who has decided to end his career as a professional football player, Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection to a player who is already part of our club’s legend.

Raphaël Varane arrived at Real Madrid in 2011, at just 18 years old, and was one of the most prominent players in the historic cycle that saw the club win four European Cups, three of them in a row, between 2014 and 2018. In the ten seasons he spent defending our shirt and crest, he won 18 titles in 360 games: four Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, three La Ligas, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups.

In addition to his titles won with Real Madrid, Raphaël Varane was crowned world champion with the French national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and champion of the 2021 Nations League in Italy.

With Manchester United he won a League Cup and an FA Cup.

As an individual, Raphaël Varane was included in the FIFA FIFPro World 11 in 2018 and was part of the IFFHS Team of the Year, the UEFA Team of the Year and the 2017/18 Champions League Ideal Squad that same year.
