Edson Álvarez allegedly made serious threats against Enzo Fernández on Saturday during the Premier League match between West Ham and Chelsea (0-3).

It started out as a simple moment of tension. And then the tone quickly rose. As reported in the British press, Edson Álvarez and Enzo Fernández had a serious verbal clash on Saturday during the Premier League match between West Ham and Chelsea (0-3).

Enzo Fernandez not at all destabilized

The scene took place at the start of the second half, a handful of minutes after the Blues scored their third goal. Guilty of a foul and sanctioned with a yellow card, Álvarez let his frustration and anger explode by attacking Fernández.

Although he tried to hide his words by putting his hands over his mouth, the British media deciphered part of them. “I’ll wait for you. I’ll kill you outside, wherever you want,” the Mexican international is said to have said. Not exactly destabilized by these threats, Fernández then approached his opponent to give him a little pat on the back, and is said to have replied: “Go ahead!”

Shortly afterwards, Julen Lopetegui did not seem to want to take any risks and sent Álvarez back to the bench. Fernández, however, only came off at the very end of the game. In sporting terms, this success for the Blues allows them to temporarily move up into the top 4 of the Premier League, while the Hammers remain stuck in the second half of the table, with only four points on the board.
