Amateur basketball – National 3: new major challenge for Valence-Condom on the road to Villeneuve-sur-Lot

the essential
The second day of National 3 sees -Condom Gers Basket travel to Lot-et-Garonne, this Saturday evening, September 21, to face Villeneuve-sur-Lot.

After a great performance against Saint-Médard where all they needed was victory (defeat 79-86), Frédéric Zadro’s players are taking on another “big player” in the group, the Lot-et-Garonnais from Villeneuve-sur-Lot, this Saturday at 8 p.m.

The Villeneuve-sur-Lot team finished last season in 3rd place after failing to start the season. They had the ambitions of returning to National 2 and had the means to do so. Consequently, to achieve their goals, they only needed to adjust a few details to this team.

The coach, dismissed the day before the last match last season, was replaced by his assistant, Brice Fréon. The latter had to compensate for the departures of captain Amada Diouf for Colayrac, and Antoine Adgnot (stop). Villeneuve-sur-Lot therefore saw the return of a local player, Idriss Majani, who left for (NM3) for a year, and the integration of a young player.

It is therefore an almost identical group that the VCGB will face with a well-armed racket, Champié, Rodriguez and Chevalier, but above all with a very athletic outside sector with the Ivorian international, Lawore, 1.97 m, 17 points last season; and the recruit Majani author of 26 points at Tresses during the first day.

A court on which the Fréon players won after extra time after being led by almost 30 points at the start of the match. Of course, the Lot-et-Garonnais had to show character to get out of the trap, but that also means that this team is fragile.

The VCGB collective is capable of it!

The “Vécégébistes” of Trépout also showed a lot of character against the scarecrow Saint-Médard with a huge burst of energy and a very rich collective (5 players with more than 10 points).

VCGB will be able to count on the arrival of the experienced Malik Sidibé, replacing Bassirou. Qualified during the week, this powerful player of 1.98 m played in NM1 and NM2, notably at Mongaillard. After two seasons in Morocco, he returns to the metropolis with the firm intention of helping VCGB achieve its objectives. He will not be too many to prevent the Lot-et-Garonnais interior game from shining.

If he manages to control Villeneuve’s major players, the VCGB collective could make the difference and tip the balance in his favour and thus allow him to sign a first victory in this championship.
