South Korean Olympic shooter Kim Ye-ji, whose skill and nonchalance won over audiences and the web during the Paris Games, has landed her first acting role, that of a hitwoman, Asia Lab announced to AFP on Friday, September 20, 2024.
A hitwoman attitude
The 10-meter pistol silver medalist will star alongside Indian actress and influencer Anushka Sen in a series called “Crush,” according to a spokesperson for the Seoul-based entertainment company. The drama will feature stars from at least seven different countries and will address themes such as racism and xenophobia.
A short video shot in May during a World Cup event in Baku, then her ultra-calm demeanor combined with futuristic shooting glasses and a baseball cap worn backwards at the Paris Games this summer, made her a viral phenomenon, thanks in part to multiple montages widely shared on social media.
The 32-year-old sports shooter’s online popularity has even earned her praise from billionaire Elon Musk, who suggested on his social media account X that she “should be in a movie.”
